Four-Year Curriculum

We introduce Four-Year curriculum of The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Curriculum Policy

The Department of Intelligent Information Systems Engineering combines experiments and exercises with basic subjects such as programming and electric circuits, which are the foundation of intelligent information systems engineering, to provide "hands-on education" and thorough instruction until students understand the subject matter. This ensures that students learn the IT skills that are essential for solving the various problems facing modern society.

There are two courses available in the Department of Intelligent Information Systems Engineering. In the Mathematical Information Engineering Course, students study computer engineering, mathematical science, artificial intelligence, and media information processing, and develop research and development skills to realize intelligent information systems that have a high affinity with humans. In the Electronics and Information Engineering Course, students study nano information devices, communication engineering, control engineering, image and signal processing, etc., and develop research and development skills to create advanced information systems that will serve as the foundation for the next-generation information society.

In addition, the SAIL special education program is designed to nurture the ability to independently conduct research and development [1. study, 2. analysis, 3. innovative design, 4. logical presentation] while developing an interest in the natural sciences. SAIL special education program is implemented to foster [Study], [Analysis], [Innovative Design], and [Logical Presentation], and provides opportunities for early laboratory work according to proficiency level.

Four-Year Curriculum

The Department of Intelligent Information Systems Engineering provides "hands-on education" by combining experiments and exercises with basic specialized subjects such as programming and electric circuits, which serve as the foundation. By offering two courses of specialized subjects, students are able to establish an identity within the broad field of intelligent information systems engineering.

In the first year of undergraduate study, in addition to education in mathematics, information engineering, and electrical and electronic engineering, students are placed in specialized basic subjects that will motivate them for future education and research. In particular, for specialized basic subjects such as "programming" and "electric circuits," which are the basic studies of intelligent information systems engineering, corresponding experiments and exercises are arranged to provide "hands-on" education. In addition, by developing the AO entrance examination (SAIL entrance examination) and special education program (advanced information engineering experiments) that have been conducted by the Department of Information Technology, students with a high level of proficiency, regardless of entrance examination category, will be provided with opportunities to conduct one-on-one lab work with faculty members from early on in the program, which will enable them to develop advanced IT innovation personnel. The SAIL program is a special education program that enables the development of advanced IT innovators.

From the second year of undergraduate study, students will be divided into two courses ("Mathematical Information Engineering Course" and "Electronics and Information Engineering Course") to select a curriculum package that guides students to establish a firm identity in the broad field of intelligent information systems engineering based on their own interests and concerns. The Mathematical and Information Engineering Course includes specialized courses oriented toward computer science and mathematical and information engineering, such as "Operating Systems," "Information Security," "Computer Networks," and "Computer Graphics. The Electronics and Information Engineering course offers specialized courses in system electronics technology, which is fundamental to an advanced information society, such as Advanced Electronic Devices, Digital Electronic Circuits, Communication Engineering, and Sustainable Energy Engineering. All courses offer education and research oriented toward the creation of intelligent information systems that have not yet been developed in the world, in terms of both hardware and software. In addition, specialized subjects widely common to the field of intelligent information systems engineering, such as "artificial intelligence," "pattern recognition and machine learning," "human interface," and "measurement and control engineering," are offered as common subjects in the courses to foster advanced IT professionals who are well versed in the field of intelligent information systems engineering.

In the fourth year of undergraduate study, students are assigned to a laboratory for their graduation thesis regardless of their course of study, thereby enabling the exchange of advanced IT professionals across courses. In this way, we nurture advanced IT innovators who proactively promote interdisciplinary research centered on information engineering and electrical and electronic engineering for the future development of the field of intelligent information systems engineering.

Dipuroma Policy

  1. (1) Acquire basic academic skills in mathematics, physics, and other natural sciences that are fundamental to engineering.
  2. (1) The student should have a solid grasp of the basic theories of computer science, information technology, and electrical and electronic engineering that form the foundation for becoming an expert in intelligent information systems engineering.
    (2) Acquire the ability to think logically based on specialized knowledge of intelligent information systems engineering.
  3. (1) Students should acquire the attitude to apply intelligent information systems engineering technology to various problems in society and try to solve them.
    (2) Students should acquire the attitude to conduct creative research and development that contributes to the development of intelligent information systems engineering.
  4. The student should have the communication skills and education necessary to become an engineer who can collaborate with a variety of people in Japan and abroad.
