TUAT Measures in Response to COVID-19

　The number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to be high in Japan. Therefore, we, at TUAT, ask all students to cooperate in preventing the infection spread by raising awareness on “protecting yourself from infection and preventing infection transmission to others”, in order to create an environment where lectures/research can be conducted smoothly. There are reports of suspected cases of COVID-19 in which infection may have spread due to students gathering to eat/drink, going to a karaoke bar, or going on a trip together, etc., so please behave according to the following precautions for the time being.

Awareness/action in general

At each campus, infection prevention measures are taken and we are working to create a safe environment for study and research, where the students and researchers can pursue their study and research without much concern about the infection transmission, etc. Please cooperate in wearing non-woven masks, cleaning your hands and disinfecting your desks with alcohol, etc.
Please take good care of your health. If you feel unwell even if slightly, please refrain from attending university or going outside the house/residence, and consult a doctor or take a PCR/antigen test.
If you receive a notification from “COCOA” (COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application), contact a consultation center near you by following the instructions displayed on the app screen and selecting the region you are in.
We recommend getting vaccinated for COVID-19 proactively.
Keep social distancing and keep verbal communication to a minimum in various situations regardless of whether you are on campus or off campus.
When going outside, avoid crowded places and busy times.
If you are confirmed with COVID-19, taken a PCR test, or identified as a Close Contact to a COVID-19 positive individual, immediately report it to TUAT.
Please act according to the guidelines/information provided by the national/local governments.

Lectures

In general, lectures are conducted face to face after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
As we will be frequently posting up-to-date information on how the lectures or university events, etc. will be held at TUAT, please check the Google Classroom, Web Bulletin Board for students and TUAT website, etc.
If there are students who wish to avoid commuting to university, etc. due to concerns on infection transmission, please contact the education/student life committee or your supervisor/advising professor immediately.

Laboratory activities

Laboratory activities can be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please ensure to follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.

Extra-curricular activities

About extra-curricular activities, please refer to “5月以降の課外活動について” (Extra-curricular activities from May and onward) dated May 23, 2022.
Please take great care and attention not to contract the virus from off-campus activities (including part-time jobs and volunteer activities).

Dining with multiple people, etc.

If you are holding a social gathering or dining with multiple people, carry the event only in a permitted facility (for example, a restaurant that has received a “感染防止徹底点検済証” (Thorough Inspection Completion Certificate for Infection Prevention) from the “徹底点検TOKYOサポート” (Thorough Inspection TOKYO Support) project)) while strictly following the industry-specific guidelines.
When dining outdoor such as at a barbecue, wear a mask during all times except during eating, refrain from speaking loudly, and take thorough infection control measures (up to 12 people per group).
Except for in the permitted facilities as above (in the cases of on-campus facilities as well), please be careful about eating or drinking with a large number of people (for example, ones with the number of participants exceeding 4) regardless of whether the venue is in a restaurant or in someone’s private house/residence, etc.
When holding/attending a dining event at an official university event or academic conference reception, etc., make sure adequate infection control measures are being placed, and then proceed to hold or attend the event.

Business trips, etc.

When going on a domestic business trip inside Japan, give adequate thought to the situations of both the departure point and destination before proceeding with the trip.
About overseas trips for outbound study abroad programs based on agreements (such as inter-university cooperation agreements) or students’ overseas business trips, etc., please consult the Student Support Office or a related office in the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to, well in advance of planning the trip.

Announcements and inquiries

We will make a new announcement if there is any change to the current status, such as the government re-declares the state of emergency.
